Why Yoga might be Good for Kids - ( Even if They are Already Flexible)

I was alerted to an article in The Orange County Register, Ring Around The Yogi, just when I wanted to write a post about kids and yoga. My friend , Best, a yoga teacher, has conducted impromptu yoga classes with the kids when ever we get together. Ever game, they agree to and excel at it. Of course they do, kids are certainly more flexible than we adults.

So why bother? Well...there are other benefits. Besides the obvious parent-child bound building inherent in any shared activity, yoga and other calming activities are perhaps even more important in what passes for childhood today.

Once the province of crunchy types, yoga has gone mainstream as more and more of us need to de-stress. Increasingly, kids do too. Much talk of over scheduling of kids, rampant ADHD and hectic lifestyles has led many to consider talking about...ways to counteract those trends. Enter yoga, meditation and similar pursuits.
